In today's world, social media tends to be more than posting pictures or doom scrolling. It plays a big part in how people view you both personally and professionally. As I continued my studies in marketing and my eagerness to work in the entertainment industry, I’ve begun to realize the importance of building a strong personal brand in the digital world. Everything posted or shared online plays a role in how others view me.

What Personal Branding Means to Me

The way I view personal branding is essentially your online identity. It’s a way to showcase yourself, your hobbies/interests, and your goals to others online. It isn’t just about portraying how professional you are but about creating uniqueness with what you post. Something I learned during my DCIM courses is that you're telling a story about yourself and what you do which is something I started to turn my focus towards.

Using Social Media the RIght Way

Before I began my studies, I used social media the same way everyone does, however, I see it differently now. Certain platforms such as LinkedIn are very important for networking and building connections. One of my projects, my personal website, has helped me showcase other projects and experiences. These platforms gave me the opportunity to show my skills in marketing, creativity, and digital media.

Rather than random posts, I’ve started to think about the things I want to share and how it reflects the goals I have. The best example is posting about projects, internships, and the things I’ve learned to create a better professional image for myself.

What I Want My Brand to Show

When others view my profile or website, I want my creativity, motivation, and passion I have for marketing and digital media to be showcased. With me wanting to work in the entertainment industry, I also want my brand to feel more modern and have an engaged platform or audience.

It is super important to me that my content shows my interests as well as my growth into my professional career. Whether it’s a class project, a blog posts, or a simple LinkedIn update, everything reflects back to me and who I am along with the places I want to take myself both professionally and personally.

In conclusion, building a personal brand is not something to take lightly. It requires a lot of work and cannot just happen overnight. It develops over time as you continue to learn about yourself, the goals you have, and what is required to get there. During this process, i have become more aware of my posting and how I want to present myself online. In the future, I look to continue improving on my presence in the digital world and use it to open up the opportunities for my self as I pursue my career.
