Why This Trip Meant So Much to Me

One of the best trips of my life was visiting my friend in Konstanz, Germany, with three of my other friends during our sophomore year of college spring break. We then all traveled together to Milan and Lake Como on a bus, passing through several European countries and taking in the amazing views. This trip felt so special because it wasn't about the
places we went to; it was about the people I was with.

Getting to visit a friend who was and still is living abroad made the experience feel more personal and fun. We weren't really there for a tourist trip, but rather to spend time with our friend we hadn't seen for over two years. We also got to see how her life was going there, and how much she has grown, and how much she has enjoyed living in Europe. Also, traveling with my friends made every moment even better. Whether we were figuring out trains, getting lost, going out, or just walking, every moment we spent together made the trip unforgettable.
Konstanz, Germany: A Beautiful Start

Konstanz was honestly the perfect place to start our trip. It’s a small city, but it was very pretty and peaceful. Being by the water made everything feel so calm, and I could see where my fr
iend was living for the next couple of years. We walked around a lot, explored the town, and even got to see the Swiss Alps, which was pretty cool. Visiting my friend there also gave me a perspective on how college students live in different countries.
Milan, Italy: An Amazing Experience

After staying in Germany for a few days, we headed off to Milan, which felt completely different. The city was way more crowded and had many tourist attractions. One of my favorite parts of Milan was not only the food but seeing the Duomo in real life. It was one of those places you see online all the time, but being there in person was a wild experience. There were so many people taking pictures and just admiring the building. We also spend a lot of time walking around, shopping, bar hopping, and trying different foods. It was one of my favorite cities to visit, and I can't wait to go back.
Lake Como: A place everyone in Italy Should Go

Out of everything we did on the trip, Lake Como was definitely my favorite part. The views of the lake were unbelievable, the water, mountains, and the little towns on the mountains all felt like something out of a movie. We didn't even do anything crazy there, just walking around, taking everything in, which were
some of the best moments. I remember thinking, “I can’t believe I’m actually here,” and just trying to stay in that moment for as long as possible.
What This Trip Meant To Me

This trip taught me a lot about going with the flow and not stressing when things don’t go perfectly. Traveling came with challenges, like figuring out transportation and timing, but everything always worked out in the end. Some of the best moments were unplanned, like just walking around or laughing with my friends. It also made me realize how important it is to be present and actually enjoy where you are. I’ll always remember this trip not just because of the places, but because of how it made me feel. It reminded me to take opportunities like this and create memories that actually last. If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to just take the trip. Especially with your friends!
