This tutorial shows college students how to use Google Calendar to stay organized, manage assignments, and build a healthier routine. In this video, I demonstrate how to add classes, schedule assignment deadlines, block time for self-care, and set reminders to stay on track during the semester.

Why I Made This Video

For my midterm project, I created a tutorial video that shows how to use Google Calendar to stay organized and build a healthier routine for college students. In the video, I demonstrated how to add classes, schedule assignment deadlines, and even block out time for self-care because everyone needs a break, even college students. With this video, I want to show a tool that will help college students feel less overwhelmed by schoolwork and deadlines, and get them organized so they can use it in their future careers. Since my website is mainly focused on information diets, this tutorial aligns with the idea of using digital tools in a healthier, more intentional way.

Who This Video Is For

The target audience for this video is college students who are struggling with time management and staying organized throughout the semester. Many students want to be more productive and procrastinate less on social media when they have a lot of schoolwork on their plate, but don't always know where to start. This how-to walkthrough shows how using a simple online tool, Google Calendar, can help students manage their time better and walks students through the steps clearly so they can follow along and set up their own schedule. This will help students become more organized and learn to manage their time more effectively in classes and in future careers.

How People Might Find This Video

Most people would likely find my video through YouTube search or recommended videos. For example, someone might search for a how-to-use-Google-Calendar tutorial, organization tips for college students, or time management for students on YouTube. However, Christine Wolf explains that finding videos online is not as easy as it seems. She says that what users see on YouTube is influenced by the platform's recommendation system.

“Despite participants’ perceived straightforwardness of searching and waiting to ‘see what comes out,’ what content appears and actually gets watched on YouTube is heavily dependent on the recommended or ‘related’ video feature.”

— Wolf (2016)

This means that YouTube's algorithm plays a huge role in deciding which videos actually appear on people's suggested videos and results.

Many students may watch this video because they want to learn how to manage their time better, but don't know where to start. My video offers an easy solution to being organized and on top of things in college. We all have been there where we forget an exam is coming up or assignments are due, but having all of this organized in one place will definitely benefit everyone! Wolf also explains that people often prefer videos to step-by-step written tutorials because they can follow along and see the process unfold, making instructions easier to understand. Having my video be a step-by-step tutorial will make the information really easy to follow. Overall, this video aims to help students manage their time better, reduce stress, and build healthier digital habits.
