Girl going through different stages of life

To be completely honest, thinking about where I will be in the next fives years can be very exciting and stressful at the same time. One reason being that I don’t have everything figured out, however, I don’t believe I need to and thats the exciting part. I have a good grasp on where I want to take my life. For me, it’s less about have the perfect path and more about living my life and working in a career that I actually love.

Building a Career I Will Enjoy

A vision board describing different things to do in the future

In five years, I visualize myself working in the entertainment industry, doing something along the lines of marketing or media. With me majoring in marketing and attaining a minor if Digital Communication, Information, & Media, I want to take my creativity with me into my career path. I don’t picture myself working a job that feels repetitive doing the same task day by day. I’d rather put my time towards being involved with projects for social media, branding, promoting artists, shows, or companies I care for. I want to have the feeling of excitement with the work I’m involved in and not just worrying about the paycheck. With that, I hope to build my experience and connections to potential start my own business.

Becoming More Independent

Another big thing I envision is becoming more self dependent. I want to be living on my own, supporting myself, and handling my responsibilities without having to rely on others. I know it can be stressful at times with things like managing money, work/life balance, and making more individual decisions that impact my life. With that being said, I know it can be a little scary, however, it will allow for a lot of personal growth and becoming more confident in myself and the decisions I am to make.

Finding Balance and Taking Care of Myself

Something that means a lot to me is balance in my life. I don’t want to be stressed, overwhelmed, or burnt out. I am going to make sure I make the time for my personal life and the things in my life that make me happy and feel good.  Whether that’s the gym, doing yoga, or shutting down from electronics and social media, I think it’s something that’s important for not just myself but anyone. In five years, I look to be better at setting the right boundaries and focusing more on my mental wellbeing.

Staying Open and Moving Forward

In the same breath, I know life won’t go exactly as planned and if I look back to five years ago, I wouldn’t expect to be where I am today. That’s why I am not putting so much pressure on myself to have everything figured out. I want to stay open to new opportunities, try new things, and keep looking forward to what is next. All in all, in the next five years I l want to be happy, stable, and proud of the woman I become and the things I am doing in my life. Even if things don’t go exactly as I plan, I look to continue growing and becoming a better version of myself, it’s what truly matters when it comes down to myself.
